Major funding boosts social housing with new contracts for repairs, upgrades, and sustainable developments.
A landmark investment in repairs and maintenance has been confirmed by Peabody Trust, which has awarded a £389.5m contract over 60 months to KBH Building Services, Wates Property Services, Axis Europe, and T Gilmartin for Provision of Property Repairs and Maintenance Services. The contract spans seven regional lots and covers critical services such as day-to-day responsive repairs, void property maintenance, damp and mould remediation, disrepair resolution, pest control, and domestic electrical repairs. With the possibility of extending up to 10 years, this contract underscores Peabody’s long-term commitment to high-quality housing maintenance. Major strides in housing development are underway at Bristol City Council, which has approved a £15.26m contract spanning 27 months with Stepnell for the Branwhite Close Housing Development. This project will deliver 47 new residential units, bolstering the city’s housing stock. Additionally, a £10.93m contract over 21 months has been awarded to Stepnell for the Cameron Centre Housing Development, which will introduce 37 new homes. Both projects are advancing into the Design & Build phase under JCT contracts, ensuring structured and efficient execution.
A strong focus on hygiene and maintenance has been set by Alliance Homes, which has commissioned Cobwebs and Glen Cleaning with a £1.7m contract for 36 months. Covering North Somerset and nearby regions, the contract is divided into three service lots: communal and office cleaning, void property cleaning, and extra care housing scheme maintenance. With a potential five-year extension, this initiative guarantees consistent cleanliness across multiple properties. Efforts to promote sustainability are being driven by Bassetlaw District Council, which has secured a £540k contract over 6 months with Miller Freeman for Decarbonisation Works at 17B in Retford. This project focuses on implementing sustainable engineering solutions to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions within the council’s operational office.
An emphasis on modernization has been placed by Aspire Housing Limited, which has awarded a 3-month refurbishment contract to M2 Construction. The Kingsley Interior Refurbishment Phase 2 will revamp meeting rooms, communal spaces, and toilet facilities, enhancing the usability and aesthetic appeal of the head office. A fresh push for accessibility has been made by Flagship Housing Group, which has awarded a £120k contract over 24 months to AKW Medi-Care. This contract will provide adapted bathroom equipment to support independent living for tenants with mobility needs, ensuring their homes are better suited to daily life.
