Revitalizing Wandsworth with affordable homes, the Wandsworth London Borough has called off Bugler Developments a £17.29m contract for the Development Construction Works (Homes for Wandsworth) via LHC H2 Lot 19 framework. The project involves the demolition of existing single-story garages, residents refuse areas, and storage sheds to make way for a mixed-use residential development. Once completed, the new scheme will feature 30 flats and four townhouses within a part-three, four, and six-storey structure. Additional amenities include car parking, bicycle storage, refuse collection points, communal spaces, and a new substation, enhancing both infrastructure and livability in the borough. Expanding Social Housing in Wakefield, Caddick Construction has been called off by Wakefield & District Housing (WDH) to deliver the Chantry House 50Nr Homes Residential Development via EN: Procure New build framework Gen4, Lot 3 – New build construction of schemes between 30-100 units, under a contract worth £11.57m. The 35-month project includes the design and construction of 50 homes, consisting of 26 houses and 24 apartments. The contractor is responsible for meeting strict employer specifications, ensuring modern, energy-efficient, and high-quality homes. The contract follows JCT Design and Build standards (2016), ensuring seamless project execution.

Clearing the way for future development in Leamington Spa, Homes England (HCA) has appointed Cawarden Co for the Demolition of Riverside House, a project valued at £518k and set to be completed in four months. The contract includes preparatory approvals, asbestos removal, and extensive site clearance to safely demolish the existing structure. Post-demolition works will focus on boundary treatment and preparing the land for future redevelopment, ensuring a smooth transition for upcoming housing or commercial projects. Enhancing housing durability in Wales with re-roofing, and to improve existing social housing stock, Bron Afon Community Housing has awarded Ralphys Roofing a 24-month contract for Re-Roofing Works. The scope includes the removal and refitting of existing roofing systems, with potential installations of new photovoltaic (solar) systems to enhance energy efficiency. While the contract value remains undisclosed, the project reflects ongoing efforts to improve housing sustainability and longevity.

Advancing recycling and waste management, Bryson Recycling has secured a £45m contract from Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council to deliver Household Kerbside Sort Recycling and Food Waste Collection Services. Over the next 60 months, the contractor will implement an efficient, environmentally friendly waste collection program across the borough, significantly improving recycling rates and waste reduction. This initiative is expected to set new standards in sustainable waste management within social housing communities. Ensuring fire safety compliance across the North West & Yorkshire, Inspectas Compliance has been appointed by MSV Housing to provide Fire Risk Assessments under a £720k contract spanning 36 months. The scope includes conducting thorough fire risk assessments, ensuring compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, and the Building Safety Act 2022. The contract includes periodic reviews and consultancy services to enhance fire safety measures across MSV Housing’s property portfolio, ensuring the safety of residents and compliance with evolving fire safety regulations.

Lastly, Modernizing social housing IT infrastructure with cloud services, in a move towards digital transformation, VIVID has entrusted Softcat with a £960k contract for Cloud Transition and Managed Service. Over the next 36 months, Softcat will oversee the migration of VIVID’s on-premise workloads to Microsoft Azure, ensuring a secure, scalable, and efficient IT infrastructure. This transition will enhance operational efficiency, streamline data management, and support better service delivery for social housing management.
