Major funding fuels transformation in social housing, with key contracts driving repairs, maintenance, and new developments to improve safety and sustainability.
South Kesteven District Council has awarded a £10m, 36-month contract to Gratton Construction and Foster Property Maintenance for Voids Repairs Work, covering general building repairs, refurbishments, electrical and plumbing works, internal redecorations, and safety compliance upgrades. This contract aims to ensure vacant social housing properties are restored and reoccupied efficiently, addressing housing shortages. Meanwhile, Golden Lane Housing has appointed British Gas Services t/a British Gas for a £448k, 12-month contract to maintain gas appliances, central heating systems, electrical safety, and plumbing infrastructure. This project, spanning England and Wales, includes annual servicing, compliance inspections, responsive repairs, and energy-efficiency upgrades, ensuring safe and modern heating solutions.
Further supporting housing maintenance and well-being, Scape Group, on behalf of Arc Partnership, has awarded a £540k, 24-month contract to Clean Green Cleaning Services for the Cleaning Solutions – AP2401 framework. Covering Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, and South Yorkshire, this contract delivers deep cleaning, scheduled maintenance, waste management, and sanitation services to improve hygiene and living conditions in social housing and public-sector buildings.
A significant new-build development, Aberdeen City Council has commissioned CHAP Group for the Craighill New Build Housing Project, a £16.19m, 25-month contract to construct modern, energy-efficient residential units. This project integrates sustainable construction methods, low-carbon heating solutions, and accessibility adaptations, expanding the supply of affordable housing in the region. In addition, Thurrock Borough Council has awarded a £499k, 4-month contract to Arcata Projects for the Brennan Road refurbishment, which focuses on internal and external repairs, insulation improvements, and compliance upgrades, enhancing older social housing units to meet modern standards.
Essential structural maintenance is also a priority, with Housing Solutions Group awarding a £600k, 4-month contract to M&J Group Construction and Roofing for pitch re-roofing, ensuring roof coverings are replaced across multiple properties. This project includes structural assessments, tile and membrane replacements, insulation improvements, and weatherproofing, enhancing energy efficiency and longevity. Additionally, Central & Cecil Housing Trust (C&C) has awarded a framework agreement to Stearn Electric Co for the supply, installation, and removal of electrical appliances and white goods. With a total framework capacity of £5m, over a period of 48-months, this agreement ensures efficient procurement, compliant installations, responsible disposal of domestic appliances, and ongoing maintenance of kitchen appliances to support tenant convenience and efficiency.
