Latest social housing contracts boost investment in repairs and maintenance, essential infrastructure, safety, and residential development.
Leicester City Council has taken a decisive step to modernize its housing stock with a £3.5m contract for central heating boiler replacements and associated works, ensuring improved heating efficiency and reduced energy costs for tenants. This 24-month contract has been awarded to Gap Property Services Leicester and UK Gas Services, This framework agreement includes replacing gas-fired central heating boilers, installing new heating systems, upgrading existing infrastructure, and supporting energy efficiency schemes through site-specific projects. The appointed suppliers will undertake boiler installations, gas or electric fire installations, and radiator and pipework renewals, ensuring enhanced heating solutions for both tenanted and vacant properties. The Highland Council is addressing local housing demand with a £2.05m project for new housing units at Perth Road, Newtonmore, engaging Tulloch Homes to construct high-quality, energy-efficient homes along with associated groundworks and infrastructure for over a 13-month period, supporting both community growth and sustainability.
West Northamptonshire Council has reinforced security across its property stock by investing £32.25m in a Security Services Framework, appointing 12 service providers, to name a few SSG Support Services, Chase Services Group, Olive Group, Lead Element Services, and Prime Secure Systems for a 36-month term. Split into four lots, it covers core guarding, ad hoc services, electronic security, and out-of-hours monitoring. Lots 1 and 4 are direct awards, while Lots 2 and 3 operate via mini competitions. Enhancing on-site security, surveillance, and emergency response, the framework is also open to new and existing authority customers. Housing 21 has called off Northern Elevator for a £270k Passenger and Domestic Lift Servicing and Repairs in Birmingham. Running for 39 months, this contract ensures the ongoing maintenance and safety compliance of essential mobility infrastructure across Housing 21’s properties. Additionally, West Kent Housing Association has secured Apex Lift & Escalator Engineers for a 60-month contract worth £248k to manage Passenger Lift Maintenance and Inspections across its South East properties. Starting in March 2025, this contract—procured via the South East Consortium’s Lifts Framework, includes routine servicing, safety inspections, and potential design and planning supervisory services to maintain lift functionality for residents.
Kirklees Council has awarded a £1.93m contract to Jupiter Construction for the conversion of Mill Dale & Crescent Dale in Heckmondwike from residential use to a daycare facility. This 9-month project will repurpose the buildings to enhance community services, providing modern and accessible daycare provisions. In addition, Golding Homes has secured a £490k contract with Gould Landscapes for grounds maintenance services in Maidstone. Spanning 36 months, this contract will ensure well-maintained outdoor spaces across Golding Homes’ housing stock, enhancing the environmental quality and livability of its residential communities.
