Newly awarded contracts are driving repairs, maintenance, and energy-efficient upgrades in social housing, with key projects focusing on new build developments, retrofitting, and accessibility improvements.

Vale of Glamorgan Council has awarded a £3.3m Pilot Retrofit Project to Surefire Management Services for 28 months in Barry, focusing on thermal efficiency, energy reduction, and PAS2035 compliance, the project includes roof and cavity insulation, fire barrier installations, airtightness improvements, and external wall insulation. Renewable upgrades feature ground source heat pumps, solar PV with battery storage, and waste water heat recovery systems, alongside ventilation enhancements, LED lighting, and smart metering. Meanwhile, Mansfield District Council has signed a £2.7m Disabled Adaptations Work contract with Matthews and Tannert for 24 months, delivering stairlifts, wet rooms, and accessibility modifications for tenants with mobility needs.

Liverpool City Council has allocated £475k to Next Energy Solutions for the Energy Efficiency – Delivery of Household Support Fund 2024-2025 project, running for two months. This short-term initiative aims to assist low-income, vulnerable households by installing energy-efficient boilers, upgrading heating controls, and repairing existing boiler systems where feasible. Delivered via the Energy Efficiency Framework Lot 2, it ensures compliance with fuel poverty reduction targets and energy efficiency standards. In a major development, Leeds City Council has awarded a £27.7m contract to Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure for the Middlecross Extra Care Scheme, a new-build housing project under the NEC4 ECC contract. The project runs from February 2025 to February 2027, supporting council housing growth and extra care living.

Additionally, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has awarded a £396k Pitched Roof Replacement contract to Hugh L S McConnell under the PfH Planned Works Framework (Lot 14 – Roofing Works). This four-month project will focus on roofing repairs, weatherproofing, and structural reinforcements to enhance durability. In a major healthcare procurement, Aberdeenshire Council has established a £4.99m, 36-month Framework Agreement for the Supply & Delivery of Aids for Daily Living, Occupational Therapy Equipment, and Supporting Services. Awarded to leading 23 suppliers such as Moorings Mediquip, Arjo UK, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare, Nottingham Rehab,Prism UK Medical, and others the framework will provide mobility aids, rehabilitation equipment, and home adaptations. Supporting Aberdeenshire Council, Aberdeen City Council, and Bon Accord Care, this initiative ensures that elderly and disabled residents receive essential independent living solutions to enhance accessibility and quality of life.
